I am a first-generation college student, military veteran, clinical psychologist, and cognitive neuroscientist. I completed my Master’s and Doctoral education at Washington University in St. Louis where I received advanced training in psychology and neuroscience. My postdoctoral training was completed at VA Palo Alto Healthcare and Stanford School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. While at Stanford I was awarded an Interdisciplinary Scholar Postdoctoral Fellowship by the Wu Tsai Stanford Neurosciences Institute for my work using neuroimaging to improve functional outcomes for individuals with psychiatric symptoms. Additionally, I am a graduate of the Ignite Program for entrepreneurship at the Stanford’s Graduate School of Business.
I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with 15+ years of experience working with a wide range of clients. Most recently I worked at Kaiser Permanente, Adult Psychiatric Clinic, as a generalist, working with older and younger adults who have a diverse intersection of identities. My specialties include anxiety, depression, trauma, psychosis, cognitive remediation, and Black Wellness.
My therapeutic work utilizes all of my knowledge, training, and experience to help clients understand how to set healthy boundaries, to practice acceptance, and to tap into purpose and empowerment. Areas of focus involve stress management, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, trust, vulnerability, emotional reasoning, and comfort. This work is trauma-informed, empirically supported, anti-oppressive, decolonial, and rooted in self-empowerment. I have had amazing experiences with my clients over the years (see feedback below) and look forward to supporting you on your wellness journey.
• Aetna
If you have an insurance provider other than Aetna I will gladly provide you a statement at the end of each month that will allow you to bill your insurance for reimbursement (superbill).
Yes, you can use an HSA or Medical Savings Plan to pay for services. If you have an HSA and would like to use that to pay for services, I can generate an invoice and you can use your HSA card to pay that invoice.
Alan's expertise in CBT helped me move through my chronic anxiety and depression with compassion. Most importantly, I gained frameworks and tools that I can lean on as I navigate life's challenges. The feedback I have received from family and friends is that I am more relaxed and true to myself. I am moderating my moods with ease and self-love. When this process started, I wanted to just "go away." I now feel like the vibrant person I am. I am much more present through meditation, which has improved my mental health. I appreciated Alan's thoughtful questions, intellect and data-driven approach as he challenged my assumptions and self doubt. I appreciate Kaiser offering the service. I am happy that I can reach out to Alan in the future should I need additional support. Please continue to give Alan and your team the recognition they deserve.
I even maintained my health insurance to stay with Dr. Ceaser for another year. During all the sessions, I felt that I could authentically be myself. Dr. C was able to help me understand my thinking by citing research. I noticed that he would stop his explanation whenever I was ready to speak again. I remember even sharing with him that the only time/place I could be my whole self was during our sessions; sometimes feeling as if Dr. C was my only friend. I really appreciated that Dr. Ceaser recognized, respected, and took into account by background as a gay, Asian, immigrant person. While my ambitious/goal-driven mind always wanted "homework", I also appreciated that our session was a time for reflection and conversation. I truly appreciate his support and guidance over the past 2 years. Best of luck!
During our session today I shared how proud of was of my progress in life and therapy. He asked how my body felt. His question invited me to explore an area I had not included in our discussion. I can not say how long it has been since I have not had tension/stress knots in my neck. This was interesting because I have always had knots in my neck. I did not even think to bring up how my body was feeling. I did report sleeping better and overall feeling a sense of ease in my life. I am confident that my individual therapy and group therapy have been instrumental in the positive life changes I have achieved.
I feel fortunate to be matched with Dr. Ceaser as I am very discerning when choosing a provider. I am a challenging client due to knowing EBPs myself and Dr. Ceaser was willing to work with me despite my challenges. Thank you for being the best!
I appreciate the validation of my experience and you made it a lot easier to reach a diagnosis/plan than a lot of other therapists I’ve had at Kaiser.
"Alan did a good job addressing my issues, but also introducing different perspectives and resources that could improve my abilities to cope with my problems and improve individual and relationship issues."
"Dr. Alan Ceaser has been the best Psychologist I ever have since receiving help at KP. He has given me great feedback and guided me in my worst emotional time. I am so grateful to him."
"Having my therapist reframe my language, to offer a different read of a situation, helped me slow down, and shift my perspective on my own racing mind, and the variable "truth" of my own narrative surrounding any one situation."
" I appreciate the models, tools and wisdom Alan brings to the conversation. He lets me work out where I am at and also guides me appropriately."
